moldova The Moldovan flag is three equal vertical stripes of blue, yellow, and red. The emblem in centre of the flag is of a Roman eagle of gold outlined in black with a red beak and talons and carrying a yellow cross in its beak and a green olive branch in its right talons and a yellow scepter in its left talons. On its breast is a shield divided horizontally red over blue with an aurochs head, star, rose, and crescent all in black-outlined yellow. Aurochs are now extinct but were wild cattle.

Children usually start school at age 6 in Moldova. Primary education is for four years until age 10 and secondary education must continue till 16 but can go on to 18/19. This may be followed by further education at a university or college.

Generally the school year consists of 3 terms and starts in the first week of September and finishes at the end of May. There is usually a 2 week break at Christmas, 1 week at Easter, and a one week break in the middle of each of the first two terms.
