Back to Owlbut's History of England

This is it. The end of our history of England...............except, it isn't the end, just the end of the beginning. We've travelled on an amazing 12,000 year journey. We have gone from small tribes of people who hunt and gather their food to vast cities and towns where food is readily available with an incredible choice. We have survived wars, battles, invasions, plagues, illnesses and fires. We have made it possible for the majority of people to live into a secure old age. And we have invented, both ourselves and our fellow humans in other countries, no end of things which make life safer, easier and more exciting. But is life better?

At the start of this period of history, the estimated population of England (to the nearest million) was 50 million or 12 million houses on our strange method, explained in the Mesolithic Age introduction.
