We always wanted all of our website to be as accessible as possible to every child. That obviously depends a bit on internet provision and also a suitable device to view it on but a charge, any charge in the current financial climate, could, indeed we believe would, stop access to the poorest of children. This is why we have now decided not to make any charge at all for the "Owlbut's School of the Air" section.

Richard has never taken a salary for the work he has done on this site, he is able to survive on his pension so why use money which can be utilised elsewhere for something that is not a necessity. However, in expanding our resource with this new section there are some costs that are a necessity and some which will need to be met before we start.

There are two ways we hope to cover these. Firstly we are seeking some sponsors who can provide a financial input in return for some advertising on our site. It cannot look bad in anyone's eyes to be trying to improve the lives of young people and also to improve their prospects in later life. Secondly we would like to think that there are people out there, like us, who also think school doesn't work for everyone, home learning happens and material that can arouse a young person's curiosity, ignite their imagination and release their creativity is no bad thing.
