We want you to get outside and take some photos. We will take some of the best photos and make them into a calendar. You will then become a published photographer.

Rules:

Open to anyone in the world.

You must have permission from your parent or guardian to enter.

You need to send us a photograph, taken in the landscape format, within one of five categories.
The categories are:-

Water - any photo which includes water in some form

Nature - any photo of plants, trees, flowers, animals or anything which could be termed nature

Reflections - any photo where there is a reflection of something in your picture

Sunsets, sunrises or clouds - obviously photos of sunsets, sunrises or clouds

My travels - any photo taken by you of anything you see on your travels

Some photos might fit into more than one category and you can make the decision and let us know.

In 2023 we uploaded some examples of photos Richard has taken over the years to give you some ideas and hopefully inspire you. These corresponded to the categories we have given you above. On Monday the photo will fit into the water category, Tuesday will be nature and so on. You can view them here.

NOTE: We do not want any photo taken indoors and certainly no selfies. You are the photographer not the object of the photo.

Prize:

You can only begin to send in your entries after September 1st 2024. Any received before that date will be ignored. The final date for entries is September 17th 2025. After this date we will select a number of the photos that we have received to form part of a yearly calendar for 2026.

The photos will be judged in three age categories as follows:-

Up to age 11

Aged 11 - 14 inclusive

Aged 15 - 18 inclusive

One photo from each age group will form the pictures for one particular month in our calendar. If your photo is chosen and published, you will receive a free copy of the particular calendar. Other copies will be available to purchase. By sending in your photo, you give us permission to use it in the calendar which will be available for people to buy. You will receive credit on the calendar for your photo and we will be in touch before printing as to how you would like your name to be shown.

How to enter:

Send your photos, but only after 1st September 2024, to photos@owlbut.co.uk and don't forget to include a note of when and where the picture was taken as well as your name, age and your grown up's contact details. You can also tell us, in fewer than 100 words, why you like the photo and any info about taking the photograph.

NOTE: You can only send in one photo in each category. If you send in a second photo the first one we receive will be the only one we look at.
