We suggest this project is done by children between the age of 4 and 7. It can be done either from home or in school.
Pens and paper. You may need a scanner or camera so you can upload it to your school's website.
I want to know something about your close family. I want you to draw up a family tree just like the one Richard has done. He did his in 2016.
I don't want to know second names or surnames, just the first name and their age when you do the project. If the person has died, please put the
letter “d” after the age and put in the age they were when they died, just as Richard has done.
I don't want to know who your parents' sisters and brothers, who are obviously your aunts and uncles, are married to but I would like to know about any
children they have, who are your cousins.
If you have more or less brothers and sisters or aunts and uncles or cousins just add or take away a few "prongs".
Remember that people will want to read your finished “tree” so if you are writing it, make it neat,
These instruction in PDF format and only intended for teachers can be found
here
A photocopiable example of Richard's family tree is here
If you are doing this project on your own at home, you can email a copy of the finished project to us and it may find its way on to our site. Send it to
homeprojectsy@owlbut.co.uk That would be owlingly brilliant. Off you go.
We are asking schools to set up a special part of their school website called Owlbut's World of Learning and all work done by pupils should be uploaded there.
Each project, if you decide to do more than one, should have a separate section. Send the link to
littleowletteprojects@owlbut.co.uk.
We will start uploading projects sent to us and links from schools in September 2025. The projects and links will be accessed from this page.
