At the end of the Elizabeth’s reign,
there were several different English bibles around and the church and clergy felt there should only be one version.
The 'Authorised Version of the
Bible' which came to be called 'King James Bible' was started in 1604 and finished in 1611.
Not everyone agreed with the translation and there are now lots of different translations of the Bible. As you have seen so far in this history,
religion causes more disputes than nearly anything else.
