The Tudors
Timeline

Remember those devolved governments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who were given extra powers back in 1999. By 2013 the Scottish government was ready to take it a step further. The Scottish government announced on 21 March 2013 that a referendum would be held on 18 September 2014.

The question the voters were asked was “Should Scotland be an independent country?” For this referendum, the voting age was reduced to 16. The result of the vote was that 55.3% of the people voted no and, guess what, 44.7% voted yes. Nearly 85% of those able to vote, did so.

Although it was said to be a once in a generation chance, people are now talking about a new vote, especially after what happened in 2016. Read on.
