Notes for teachers or adults
We suggest this project is done by children between the age of 4 and 7. It can be done either from home or in school.
Pens and paper or a computer or tablet with a word processing package.
I want you to write me a little story. However, your story must contain certain words. I am going to tell you the words that must be in the story. The words are either
a noun, an adjective, a verb, an adverb or a conjunction. They can appear in any order in your story.
The story must have the following six nouns in it (a noun is the name of a person, a place or a thing)
- Owlbut
- owl
- tree
- sky
- field
- food
The story must have the following six adjectives in it (an adjective is a word that describes a noun)
- blue
- tasty
- big
- green
- clever
- happy
The story must have the following six verbs in it (a verb is an action word)
- sat
- flew
- looked
- saw
- moved
- smiled
The story must have the following six adverbs in it (an adverb is a word that modifies a verb)
- quietly
- speedily
- carefully
- slowly
- happily
- suddenly
The story must have the following four conjunctions in it (a conjunction is a word that joins sentences together to make them longer)
- and
- but
- or
- however
You can use any other words you want and you can use a word more than once. Your story shouldn't be more than 250 words long.
