Who Can Do It

We suggest this project is done by children between the age of 4 and 7. It can be done either from home or in school.

What You'll Need

Pens and paper or a computer or tablet with a word processing package.

How To Do It

I want you to write me a letter. Just a simple little letter. You can choose what you want to tell me or even ask me but I want it done as a proper letter. That means there are some rules to apply. Different people have different ways of setting out a letter and there is no absolutely correct way. However there are a couple of things a letter needs at the top.

Firstly you should put your address and then the person you are writing to can send a letter back. It should show your house name if you have one, the number and street name, the town, the county and the postcode. However I don't want you to put your real address, just make one up like I have in the example. You can put the real county if you like.

Underneath the postcode goes the date. The letter will then start "Dear" whoever you are writing to. When you finish the letter you can end in different ways depending, once again, on who you have written to.

Check out my example but also check out what to do once you have written your letter.

If you are doing this project on your own at home, you can email a copy of the finished project to us and it may find its way on to our site. Send it to homeprojectsy@owlbut.co.uk That would be owlingly brilliant. Off you go.

We are asking schools to set up a special part of their school website called Owlbut's World of Learning and all work done by pupils should be uploaded there. Each project, if you decide to do more than one, should have a separate section. Send the link to littleowletteprojects@owlbut.co.uk.

We will start uploading projects sent to us and links from schools in September 2025. The projects and links will be accessed from this page.

Dear All

This is an example of how to write a letter. I hope you can read it. I know in England it is now the school holidays so I hope you are all having a great time. The weather is not that good today as it is a bit windy and dull. I am looking forward to hearing from you all in September when the holidays have finished. I hope you keep coming to my website to see what is happening.

Love

Owlbut
