Kosovo is a country in the south east corner of Europe. It is a disputed land which means that not all countries in the world recognise it as a separate country.

Kosovo is a landlocked country, which means it has no borders with a coast.

The land is mainly flat but surrounded by several high mountain ranges.

The geographical coordinates for the centre of Kosovo, also known as lines of latitude and longitude, are:-

The capital of Kosovo is Pristina.

Kosovo is parliamentary republic with a president as head of state and a prime minister as head of the government.

In elections everyone over the age of 18 can vote.

The currency in Kosovo is the euro. Kosovo is, however, not a member of the European Union although it has the right to apply for potential candidate status which precedes being given candidate status. It has not yet applied.

Albanian is the official language.

To be a citizen of Kosovo, one of your parents must be a citizen of Kosovo. It is not sufficient to be born in Kosovo. You have to live in Kosovo for 5 years before you can begin to apply for citizenship.
