Henry was a very religious man and in
1245 he decided to rebuild Westminster Abbey, not on his own of course. You may remember that the original abbey was built on the instructions of Edward the
Confessor, another religious king.
Henry decided to build it in a different style, called gothic. See what you can find out about the gothic style of building. Henry also wanted a
central shrine to honour Edward. Funnily enough, well funny for all of us except Henry, he was buried in Westminster Abbey when he died and certainly not before.
