The Tudors
Timeline

Election time again or significant election time again. Labour had won power in 1997, won again in 2001 and 2005 and now wanted a fourth win. Tony Blair had gone and been replaced by Gordon Brown. Unfortunately, Brown had been the chancellor, looking after the nation's money, before he replaced Blair on 24 June 2007. Many looked at the financial crisis which started almost immediately after Brown became PM and thought he hadn't done enough to keep Britain out of the chaos. Neither was Brown seen as being able to cope with the situation after the crisis began.

As a result the Conservative Party, under David Cameron, won the most seats, 306, but not enough to form a government on their own. The Liberal Democrats won 57 seats and a coalition was formed between the two parties. Unlike other “deals” between parties where they would promise to support on certain things, this was a real coalition. Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats was made deputy PM and other Lib Dems had places in the cabinet.
