Timeline

Do you remember before the Romans arrived there were 14 major tribes in England? Well, by 560 AD, we now had 7 major kingdoms, all ruled by a King. Some of the kingdom names still remain today. They still fought each other but not so much. Sometimes one kingdom would be strong and at another time a different one would be strong depending on the King. They all had different problems too, with Northumbria in the north facing the Picts, Mercia, the central kingdom, having attacks from the Welsh and the others sometimes attacking each other. One thing the people all had in common was that they were pagans. This means they worshipped lots of different gods.
