usa The United States of America flag is 13 equal horizontal red and white stripes, red at the top and bottom, with a smaller blue rectange in the top corner nearest the flag pole upon which are 50 small, white 5-pointed stars arranged in 9 rows, 6 stars in the top row and 5 in the second and so on. These stars represent the 50 states which now make up the United States while the 13 stripes represent the original colonies.

The capital of The United States of America is Washington.

A person from the United States of America is called an American.

To be a citizen of the United States of America you must be born in the United States of America or one of your parents must be a citizen of the United States of America. You have to live in United States of America for 5 years before you can begin to apply for citizenship.

The elderly dependency ratio is 22.1. This is the number of elderly people (ages 65+) per 100 people of working age (ages 15-64).

The potential support ratio is 4.5. This is the number of working-age people (ages 15-64) per one elderly person (ages 65+). As a population ages, the potential support ratio tends to fall, meaning there are fewer potential workers to support the elderly.

The United States of America spends 4.9% of its total income on education.

Children usually start school around age 6 in The United States of America. Primary education is for six years until age 12 and secondary education must continue till 18. This may be followed by further education at a university or college.

Generally the school year consists of 3 terms and starts in the first week of September and finishes toward the end of June. There is usually a 1 week break at Christmas and Easter, and a one week break in the middle of the second term.

We have no figures for the number of people who are able to read and write by the age of 15.

9.2% of all people aged between 16 and 24 are not in work. Among females 8.1% are unemployed while with males 10.3% can't find work.

The total number of people available for work in the United States of America is 158.60 million.
