Because nothing was written down we know so very little about any culture they may have had. Try to imagine what it would be like. You've worked hard all day, eaten your evening meal and then what. Did they tell stories, did they play games, were they able to make musical instruments and entertain each other that way? Did they sit outside their homes or inside? During the Ice Age, though not in Great Britain where very few people stayed on, some people who lived in caves in France did some paintings on the cave walls. There is no real record of celebrating any special festivals or feasts but a new moon might mean something so did they celebrate? Try it in your house one night. When the sun goes down you are not allowed any light, not even candles. You have to stay in one room and no phones, televisions, laptops or computers. What would you do? Perhaps you might last for an hour or two but these people lived like that every single night. By the way, if you do try it, don't go up and down stairs, just stay in one room and move everything dangerous out of the way. I bet it feels strange. Will you tell each other stories or make up a game to play? No one has any record of what these hunter-gatherers did, it's just a little Owlbut guess.
